POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a customer-centric, passionate and innovative marketing leader who will drive awareness, brand perceptions, lead-generation and demand of CMMI Institute solutions

In this role, you will be charged with determining the best way for CMMI Institute to represent our brand identity and customer promise through online and offline experiences.   The role involves an equal mix of strategy development, process improvement, marketing analytics, creative execution and team leadership.  You will be the primary marketing leader responsible for refining, promoting and extending CMMI Institute’s value proposition in the B2B and B2C marketplaces we serve.

This position is people-oriented, involving development of diverse marketing and sales enablement initiatives and managing those through internal sell-in and go-to-market execution.  You will be responsible for collaborating with internal clients, understanding their needs, and developing sales and promotional concepts that can deliver quantified business goals.   At times the role will require you to develop campaign and promotional concepts; other times, you will be responsible for recruiting and managing third party agencies, vendors and design resources.  The job scope encompasses public relations, thought leadership content, digital media, SEO/SEM, sales enablement, conferences and events.

Your performance will be measured by positive improvements in brand awareness and perceptions, engagement and revenue generation, and your ability to lead and partner with a high-performing cross-functional team.  This position requires someone who has deep B2B marketing experience (in SaaS, education or professional services), a digital-first approach, and an innovative mind-set. Overall marketing leadership responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining a strong brand presence both internally and externally to preserve brand value
  • Listening to customer needs and building voice of the customer into company activities and outreach
  • Tracking trends and monitoring competition
  • Helping develop new markets and customer bases for company’s products and services
  • Building and managing marketing strategies, plans and budgets
  • Creating engagement with market influencers, prospective and current customers through brand and marketing communications channels, such as the website, events, public relations and marketing campaigns

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develops and executes comprehensive marketing plans and programs, both short and long range, to support sales and revenue objectives of organization.  Develop annual marketing strategies that most effectively present the organizations’ vision, mission and activities to targeted audiences.
  • Researches, analyzes, and monitors financial, technological, and demographic factors to capitalize on market opportunities.  Monitors competitive and marketing activities.  Partners with Product Management and Customer Insights to validate opportunities.  Conducts marketing surveys on current and new product concepts, and provides feedback for future product development.
  • Supervise staff, including hiring and training new staff.  Function as a team leader, coaching, developing, and motivating staff; determine work assignments and responsibilities; ensure that the staff organizational structure meets the needs of the program; evaluate office functions and streamline administrative processes.
  • Oversee marketing communications including branding, public relations, advertising, digital media, SEO/SEM, e-mail marketing, white papers, trade shows, collateral, and website design and content.
  • Assists with product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share.
  • Oversee agencies and suppliers, negotiates contract terms and conditions for major services, serves as liaison.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of prospect database.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers, analysts, and key community and strategic partners.
  • Guides preparation of marketing activity reports and presents to executive management.  Review changes to the organization, marketplace and profession and recommend appropriate adjustments to marketing plans
  • Establishes and maintains branding guidelines that are consistent throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events.
  • Develops and manages marketing operating budget and establishes processes (dashboards) to assess the success of marketing initiatives.

 

EDUCATION

  • REQUIRED:  BA or BS Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, Journalism, or Fine Arts from an accredited university
  • Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent experience; Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, Journalism, Fine Arts or other Liberal Arts Majors from an accredited university

 

EXPERIENCE

  • REQUIRED:  Minimum 5 years of experience leading a marketing group for a global education, professional service or technical product firm
  • 5 years of proven experience moving solutions into adjacent industries
  • Professional Association/volunteer engagement

  • Multi-lingual; cultural sensitivity

 

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS

  • 10+ years of progressive B2B and B2C marketing experience.
  • 5+ years of team leadership experience.
  • Strong digital expertise –development expertise for web, digital display advertising, e-catalogues, social selling channels, SEO/SEM.
  • Equally skilled in strategic planning and creative execution across a variety of initiatives.
  • Strong working knowledge of branding, content marketing, interactive commerce and creative process.
  • Strong project management skills; ability to manage and maintain multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to make evaluative judgments and rationalize creative direction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in speech and in writing.
  • Ability to recruit, hire, train and supervise employees including organizing and prioritizing and work assignments.
  • Proven success in the development of digital-first awareness, acquisition, and engagement campaigns.
  • Outstanding customer focus and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to adapt and work in a progressive, dynamic, changing environment.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong drive for results.

Travel is required, up to 10%, both domestic and international

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

Physical Demands

This a largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
